The nurse working in theatre can have various roles and may be referred to as a peri-operative nurse, embracing patient focused, holistic care.

Ensure you are a Registered Nurse. Then undertake a qualification in theatre nursing, such as a Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing, or a Master of Nursing. Ensure that you are registered an appropriate board (such as the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia) and meet their registration standards to be able to practice professionally.
